What's in it for You?

At Genea, we recognise that our people are vital to ensuring we deliver on our patient promise of “no better chance, no greater care”. It is our scientists, doctors, nurses and support staff who contribute the world leading science and high level of care.

Through our people initiatives, we aim to deliver on our goal:

To provide a safe work environment in which our people can enjoy stimulating, challenging and rewarding careers.

When you come to work with us here at Genea, these are some of the initiatives we offer our people:

Good For You (health & wellbeing program)

We’re big believers in the connection between your physical, mental and spiritual health and our program focuses on all of these factors to help you balance the competing pressures in your life and maintain your wellbeing. You can access fitness trainers, in-house exercise classes, yoga, discounted gym passes, corporate rates for private health insurance, an employee assistance program (offering staff free counselling sessions with external psychologists), free flu vaccinations and more.

Equity participation

Owning a slice of the company you work for provides an even stronger motivation to strive for the goals of the group. After a qualifying period of employment, you will be offered the opportunity to purchase shares in Genea.

Rewards & Recognition program

We are passionate about celebrating our achievements and recognising the dedication and exceptional contribution of our people. It is through these contributions that we continue to be a leader in our field. And it is through our recognition of achievements that we reinforce the behaviours and values that are important to each of us individually and collectively.

Our Values (Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, Innovation and Passion) have application in everything we do and are used to help guide every decision we make. Our Rewards & Recognition program aims to recognise colleagues who demonstrate our Values and excel in their actions and work. It aims to provide you with a formal way to be recognised and in turn, to recognise your colleagues and team members.

Referral bonus

At Genea, we recognise our people understand more than anyone what it takes to be the best and what it takes to deliver on our patient promise – this is why we offer our people a cash bonus when they refer a friend who is subsequently hired and successfully completes the probation period.

Company picnic day

We truly understand the importance of family, after all we’re heavily involved in helping create them. Over the Christmas and New Year period, we give eligible employees an additional annual leave day so you can spend more time with your family and friends.

Social Club

The Genea Social Club has been running since 2006 and is a great forum to socialise, have fun and get to know your colleagues outside of work in a relaxed, fun and stress-free environment.

Being a member gives you free or subsidised entry to regular social events and functions organised throughout the year such as harbour cruises, gold class movie nights, days at the races, comedy nights, musicals and much more. Members can also purchase movie tickets at highly reduced rates.

Genea supports the Social Club by matching employee contributions dollar-for-dollar.

Community Support

Genea frequently supports the community through various fund raisers and corporate sponsorships.

Discounted IVF services

We support our people who are experiencing difficulty getting pregnant through subsidised access to our world leading science and IVF treatment following a qualifying period.

Career development

Assistance with developing your career is a standard offer from employers these days. Genea offers ongoing formal education programs and development opportunities along with paid study assistance for courses in related fields. When you join Genea, you will discover that many people have had the opportunity to grow and evolve very quickly in the organisation. All vacant/new positions are advertised internally, providing you with the opportunity for career development, job change and advancement.

Staff Engagement

Our employees’ thoughts and opinions about working at Genea are important to us. To keep our finger on the pulse of our teams’ motivation, we conduct a staff engagement survey approximately every two years. Our most recent result of 76 per cent staff engagement achieved a Gold Standard Employer status for Genea. This rating puts Genea in the top 15 per cent of organisations undertaking the survey facilitated through Peter Berry Consulting.

The information we collect in these biennial surveys is augmented with regular department checks across the business.

Regional and international work opportunities

Our Scientists have the opportunity to work in our regional centres during scheduled visits, providing a wonderful development opportunity in laboratory management. Our diverse global business also creates opportunities for international travel, secondments and permanent placements.

Paid Parental Leave

Genea has a comprehensive and competitive Paid Parental Leave Program offering eligible employees up to 12 weeks paid parental/adoption leave and two weeks paid paternity leave. In addition, employees have the opportunity to utilise the services of an external provider for return to work guidance; including family friendly and flexible work tools for mums, dads and employers.

Flexible work arrangements

At Genea, we understand the importance of having a work/life balance and to live up to that belief, we encourage initiatives like working from home, compressed working weeks, job sharing, various leave entitlements and part time work. All requests are considered very carefully and, providing the needs of the business are not compromised, often approved.
