I'm not conceiving naturally but IVF seems like a big step

IVF. For three small letters, they can seem like a very big deal. Because let’s be honest – we all want, hope and even expect to get pregnant the old fashioned way. It worked for most of our parents, right?

But the truth is, one in six couples will face a fertility issue of some sort. If you’ve been trying for more than 12 months (six months if you’re 35+), there’s a chance you could be one of them.

Getting help doesn’t mean getting IVF

There are many reasons for infertility, and there are just as many treatments. When you come to see a Fertility Specialist at Genea, you’re not necessarily diving into a scary, costly IVF journey. In fact, approximately 50 per cent of patients who come to see one of our Fertility Specialists, don’t actually need IVF - they conceive naturally, sometimes due to changes in lifestyle or prescribed medication.

At Genea, the first thing we do is find out as much as we can about your specific situation. That means understanding your fertility history, health, feelings and goals – not to mention those of your partner. It’s only once we understand these things that we can work out a plan with you.

If you’re in the Sydney area and you’re not ready to see a Fertility Specialist, another good option is to come and see Genea's unique Fertility GP,  whom focuses solely on fertility so they know exactly what to look for and how to help couples investigate their fertility. As part of Genea’s world leading fertility team, our General Practitioner's have access to the most advanced and accurate fertility tests, conducted and analysed all under one roof in our Sydney CBD clinic.

Take it one step at a time

No matter how much pressure you may feel, it’s important to make the decisions that are right for you. And whatever happens on your fertility journey, we’re always here to help.
